What is SymbioTest? SymbioTest is a Web-based, code-free automated software testing framework. Our framework is used primarily for functional testing, and does not require knowledge of any programming language to use. SymbioTest also has optional features such as defect tracking, remote test monitoring, and advanced reporting that can be added at anytime. SymbioTest is available in two different versions: SymbioTest On-Demand - The World's First Hosted Automated Testing Solution SymbioTest Enterprise - Designed for organizations who wish to host their own enterprise testing portal. Why did we make SymbioTest? To provide business people, as well as QA specialists with an opportunity to perform data driven software testing virtually anywhere, (wherever an Internet connection is available) and to provide project managers with an opportunity to organize, manage, and report on the entire testing process with an easy to use Web-based interface. What kind of testing can be performed with SymbioTest? Currently, we support the functional testing of Web-based, client/server and standalone applications. We expect this to grow over time, and hope to have features such as Load Testing, and/or Web Performance Monitoring in the near future. Who uses SymbioTest? Our user community includes programmers, QA professionals, project managers, business analysts, and consultants. Basically, anyone tasked to deliver quality software on time with a minimal amount of defects. What skills do I need to run SymbioTest? A basic understanding of the testing process (some folks call it the application flow), and a working knowledge of the English language. Our powerful Natural Language Engine™ which is directed by using English keywords coupled with our very intuitive GUI interface makes SymbioTest one of the easiest automated testing solutions to master on the market today. How can I create automated tests using the English language? SymbioTest uses a natural language or keyword driven engine to create flexible and powerful data-driven tests. Users first define test requirements and then model the objects (buttons, edit fields, images, etc.) against the application under test using our SymbioTest Agent. Test cases are then created, in English to validate the business functionality and application flow. The SymbioTest process is fully documented and contained in an online help file. Are English / Keyword based automated tests powerful? Yes, SymbioTest users can easily and quickly create powerful data-driven tests all without a formal programming language. Additionally, the process to create and execute fully automated tests can be learned in about 1 hour. I am a manual tester, can I still use SymbioTest? Yes, SymbioTest can manage both manual and automated test cases. Additionally, you can track and manage test requirements, defects, and generate professional grade reports. Which version is right for me - SymbioTest On-Demand or SymbioTest Enterprise? SymbioTest On-Demand is designed specifically for small and medium sized businesses who wish to test anytime from anywhere via a Web browser without installing hard to use or expensive software. On-Demand users are always using the latest version of our software which is updated centrally. All test data is stored remotely where it is secured, and backed up on a regular basis. SymbioTest Enterprise is designed for organizations who whish to host and maintain their own software testing portal. We provide software on a more traditional basis via CD with latest upgrades, where it is supported and managed by in-house resources. Can I transfer my project data from SymbioTest On-Demand to SymbioTest Enterprise and vise versa? Yes. Any time. What platforms (Operating Systems) does SymbioTest support? Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Microsoft Server 2000 & 2003 What target application GUI’s and databases does SymbioTest work with? With our Web interface and client side agent SymbioTest can test the following target applications: C++, HTML (including JavaScript), AS 400 (5250), and Mainframe (3270). We work directly with Oracle, MS SQL Server and many others databases Can I transfer existing test cases from other vendors SymbioTest? No. Since SymbioTest uses a unique keyword driven platform it can only operate with its own test cases. What kinds of customer support and documentation does SymbioWare provide? SymbioWare provides 24/7 phone support, e-mail and ticket system. Plus, customers can always take advantage of the extensive SymbioWare Knowledge Base as well as detailed product help and other documentation materials thoughtfully created for greater customers’ convenience. To bring accuracy of the stored clients’ data to the higher level, we keep each client’s data in a separate independent database to ensure faster operations, increased reliability, and ease of maintenance.
